TOPIC - Ludwig Leichhardt's botanical legacy

Tanya Hoolihan developed a great love and appreciation of her natural surroundings while living in Jilliby, here on the Central Coast.   She holds a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (honours) degree from the University of Newcastle and was awarded a scholarship to undertake Higher Research study in the field of Botanical Illustration. Her study will focus around the botanical legacy of the German born explorer Ludwig Leichhardt.

Ludwig Leichhardt is best known for his exploration in Northern Queensland. Motivated by science he was an avid observer, collector and recorder of natural history with his greatest scientific legacy laying in the field of botany.  Over 3,500 specimens collected by Leichhardt are still housed today in Australian herbariums.

Tanya will discuss Leichhardt's botanical legacy, her work and display her illustrations associated with this project.
