SPEAKER – Nick Carson

TOPIC - The importance of the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary and catchment area

In September 2017 Nick was named the NSW Environmental Educator of the Year by the Australian Association of Environmental Education.

Nick grew up in Terrigal and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Resource Management at Macquarie University.  After Uni Nick spent the next couple of years working in outdoor education in Rhode Island, USA and on the Colo River NSW.  He then worked as a Discovery Guide for the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and led many Ghost Tours at the Quarantine Station!

For the next eight years Nick worked in wildlife management as Senior Ranger at Waratah Park and as Park Manager at Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park.  He is currently employed as an Environmental Education Officer at Central Coast Council where he educates the community about the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary.

Nick also volunteers with the Powerful Owl and Regent Honeyeater Projects and has led wildlife walks for the Community Environment Network.  He is a keen birder and is known to quite a few of our APS members.

He lives at the edge of a bushland reserve with his young family and loves anything outdoors, especially surfing.

Bus departs Gosford at 8.00 am sharp. Only other pick up will be at Kariong.

Returns to Gosford by 4.00 pm.
